Volunteer
Part of the educational mission of the Area I Young Riders Program is to help our members understand that our sport is based on volunteers. Every aspect requires many people who volunteer their time so events can happen and programs such as Young Riders can carry on. All members are expected to volunteer some time each year to either the Young Riders Program or directly to any Area I Event.
HELP WANTED:
Fence Judges – Organizers of all our Area I events always need fence judges. I encourage every member to pick one event this season that you can fence judge at. I will develop a list of Young Rider fence judges and send it to the organizers. This is an important contribution to our sport…don’t miss out on this opportunity. Contact Marion Quigley at marjon36@aol.com to sign up to fence judge.
Young Rider Table Watcher – No experience necessary! Parent or members. We plan to have a table set up at every Area I event possible. The table will have information about our program, logo-wear for sale, and will be a place for our members to come and meet each other, and find out information about course walks offered for that event. We need volunteers to set up the table and work at it. Please contact Marion Quigley at marjon36@aol.com if you can work a few hours at an event.
BBQ Planner – At our UNH Mixed Team Challenge July 18, we will be offering a casual BBQ the evening before the event (July 17) for competitors and coach(es). We need someone to take on the job of planning and organizing this. The UNH secretary, Liz Ortel, has volunteered her resources as well, so you won’t be on your own. Contact Marion Quigley at marjon36@aol.com.
Young Riders Committee Members – We will be putting together an Area I Young Riders Committee to better distribute the workload of this program and to have a wider advisory base. We would like 1 or 2 members, trainers, parents and organizers. If you would like to serve on the committee, contact Nancy Marks at ncmarks@aol.com.
