Hey everyone! I have a 6 yr old TB and we are competing at training. He's an awesome jumper xc (meaning his Knees are up and legs tucked) but in stadium he tends to dangle a bit. for pics see Studio Equs XC : http://www.studioequus.smugmug.com/gallery/5182238_Gt5yS#314167082_WNJcG and stadium: http://www.studioequus.smugmug.com/gallery/5182243_aZJoM#314170268_Zb4Bu. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and what you all would suggest for a way to get his knees more tucked in stadium...any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jessie, On occasion my horse would do the same thing, I have since done a lot of gymnastics and also made the jumps more interesting with putting tarps, blankets and anything to make him look at them more. I would definitely practice lots of gymnastics with bounces and tight 1-strides to make him sit down and use his front end better. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! I started working on this and i can already see the improvement! Thanks again! Jessie

ATTENTION YOUNG RIDERS this year we have 3 candidates to send to the championships in CO but we need everyone's help in raising money to send them out and to fund YR's itself directly. Only 2(!!) out of 75 people have sent in their items for the silent auction, please help us make a silent auction usable to raise money that will only help you in the future! No item is to small or to big, and does not have to be horse related.

6-9-08
Does anyone know when the Online Silent Auction is starting and where people can bid?

Hey i was wondering if anyone knew about when we will find out if you are accepted to the YR Camp at GMHA. Is it by email or by post? Thanx so much!!

Hey, So in the newsletter that was sent out there was a YR Clinic @ Ledyard Farm in April? Where is more information on that? There wasn't any that I saw on area1's website or Ledyard Farms? Could it be the fact I havn't sent in my renewal?? Oops.. it's sitting on the stairs! Thanks.

Is anyone doing anything to help come up with ideas for sponsorship? Are we doing a raffle again? maybe instead of winning money you could win a trip to Hawaii again. I think we really need to start working at this, the season is coming up quick
3-25-08
I agree, we need to start coming up with some ideas, like Area II is doing the stallion auction, why aren't we coming up with any ideas or any new information regarding the Young Riders such as training sessions, camps or meetings at events like other areas do? We don't seem to be organized about any of this and we are already into the season with many of us asking questions and never getting answers. Any information out there??? What are required events for making the team? We used to get a whole itinerary at the beginning of the season letting us know what events we need to do, and when training sessions are and how we are raising money? Is there anything out there for us to know??

2-11-08
Hi, I'm wondering about the GMHA camp. How is it? Do you have to be a young rider to attend?
2-11-08
If you are doing the Young Rider GMHA camp, then yes, you do have a to be a member of the Young Riders since they are the ones hosting it..

2-10-08
Just wondering how other Young Rider's are going about trying to raise money for the team? I have been asking local tack stores, and businesses around my area. I have already gotten a couple donations in goods and money, but I also know that we need a lot more...What are other people's thoughts???

I believe that the YR qualifications for the 2* from last year have been grandfathered again for 2008 (2 CICs will be enough)
Debbie Kuhn

IMPORTANT! YRs hoping to go to NAYRC this year should know that the qualifications for 2008 have CHANGED (and so are different than listed on this site) - you can no longer use CICs to qualify (previously, one could qualify with either 2 CICs or 1 CCI), and so you must have a qualifying score at a CCI*/**! This change of course makes it even harder for us Area Oners to get qualified...
2-6-08
Please be careful as to what you write until you have official verification. As the YR Coordinator I am the first to know what, if any changes to the qualifications for the NAJYRC will be and I will post them accordingly. The official word from the USEF is that the qualifications will remain the same as they were last year and what we have posted on our web site. Nici Hornblower/ Area I YR Coordinator

That is rediculous!! I can't believe it, I am(was)qaulified with 1 CIC now we need only one CCI and NO CIC'S? How are they able to change that and only give us a few months?
2-6-08
Qualifications for the NAJYRC are two CIC* or one CCI*. Unfortunately, one CIC will not completely qualify you for the team. Hope this helps and Good luck. Nici Hornblower/Area I YR Coordinator

The Area I Young Rider Coordinator, Nici Hornblower, is still waiting to hear official word from the USEA whether this is true. Webmaster

1-25-08
What are other YR's doing to qualify for the 2star? I am going to run as Jersey Fresh and now that we aren't allowed to have CIC's that's the only one besides the Florida 3-day in April

Good luck to all you Young Riders!! Just read the notice of 100 fine if caught not wearing own armband. As a fund raiser, try selling armbands. I think many of us older riders would purchase a spare. How often have we removed our jacket after s/j to find it still there, and could easily be lost. An idea would be to put them on the general website for all to see.

Hi I am a Young Rider in area 1...how do i go about being on the team? What are the requirements? How do I get selected? THANKS
1-11-08
If you click on the NAJYRC Program link just above the bulletin board you will find a complete description of the FEI requirements to compete at the one * and two ** levels, the Area I selection process, deadlines and forms. Please remember that you must be a member of both the USEA and the Area I Young Riders. Forms to join the Young Riders are also posted on the YR site.

If you go onto the Description link on this page it will give you all theses answers..Just dig around a bit.

Congratulations to Area 1 young riders we finally have our own bulletin board!!! I think that bringing the previous issues discused on the original area 1 bb relating the 2008 team, should definately be continued here as well as plans for fundraising and interested riders. Kudos to the webmaster, and lets see some yr posts!!
